About this SWP calculator ICICI page
Independent calculator: this page is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund or ICICI Bank. It uses a transparent month-by-month formula so you can check an SWP plan yourself. For scheme-specific rules — minimum SWP amount, available dates, exit loads — read the scheme information document or ask the fund house.
Building a bucket plan for your SWP
A popular way to run an SWP — from ICICI Prudential schemes or any fund house — is the bucket approach:
- Bucket 1: one to three years of withdrawals in a liquid or short-term debt fund. The SWP runs from here.
- Bucket 2: the next few years in a hybrid fund.
- Bucket 3: long-term money in equity funds, refilling the other buckets after good years.
The SWP calculator ICICI page treats your whole corpus as one pot at one return. To model buckets, run each bucket separately with its own return.
Step-ups and inflation
Add a yearly step-up to keep up with rising costs, and an inflation rate to see real values. The table shows how step-ups change a ₹25 lakh plan paying ₹12,000 a month at 8%:
| Yearly step-up | Lasts (25-year plan) | Withdrawal in year 10 | Total withdrawn |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0% | Full period | ₹12,000 | ₹36,00,000 |
| 3% | Full period | ₹15,657 | ₹52,50,134 |
| 5% | Full period | ₹18,616 | ₹68,72,702 |
| 7% | 20 yr 2 mo | ₹22,062 | ₹59,90,516 |
| 10% | 16 yr 0 mo | ₹28,295 | ₹51,63,696 |
