About this SWP calculator HDFC page
Independent calculator: this page is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by HDFC Mutual Fund or HDFC Bank. It uses a transparent month-by-month formula so you can check an SWP plan yourself. For scheme-specific rules — minimum SWP amount, available dates, exit loads — read the scheme information document or ask the fund house.
Sizing an SWP from an HDFC MF scheme
The SWP maths does not change from one fund house to another — only the scheme’s returns, minimums and exit load do. Enter your current folio value as the total investment, choose a monthly withdrawal and an assumed return, and look at the “Max level SWP” figure in the result: that is the most you could withdraw for your period if the return held steady.
Balanced advantage and hybrid funds for SWP
Many fund houses, including HDFC Mutual Fund, offer balanced advantage and other hybrid funds that adjust their equity share with market levels. Investors often pick such funds for SWPs because values usually swing less than in pure equity funds. Whichever fund you consider, read its scheme documents and check how it behaved in past market falls.
Reviewing your SWP every year
- Compare the actual folio value with the calculator’s year-end balance.
- If the folio is well behind, reduce the withdrawal for a year or two.
- If it is well ahead, you can afford a step-up.
