What makes a soulmate in this test
The true love calculator soulmate test uses two kinds of clues. From your names it takes the classic letter-count score. From your birthdays it takes two traditional compatibility systems: the elements of your zodiac signs (fire, earth, air and water) and your numerology life path numbers. The soulmate score is the average of the name score and the birthday score.
Soulmate signs in the zodiac
Astrology groups the twelve signs into four elements. Signs of the same element, or of a friendly element, are traditionally seen as easy matches:
| Element | Signs | Best matched with |
|---|---|---|
| Fire | Aries, Leo, Sagittarius | Fire and Air |
| Earth | Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn | Earth and Water |
| Air | Gemini, Libra, Aquarius | Air and Fire |
| Water | Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces | Water and Earth |
Opposite signs — six signs apart, like Aries and Libra — get a small bonus in this calculator, because astrology often describes them as a pair that completes each other.
Soulmate life path numbers
Numerology adds up every digit of your date of birth until one digit is left — your life path number. Some numbers are traditionally called natural matches:
| Life path | Natural matches |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3, 5, 6 |
| 2 | 4, 6, 8, 9 |
| 3 | 1, 5, 6, 9 |
| 4 | 2, 7, 8 |
| 5 | 1, 3, 7 |
| 6 | 1, 2, 3, 9 |
| 7 | 4, 5 |
| 8 | 2, 4, 6 |
| 9 | 2, 3, 6 |
A soulmate is made, not calculated
The idea of a soulmate goes back to Plato’s story of humans split in two and searching for their other half. Modern psychology sees it differently: couples who believe love grows with effort tend to be happier than couples who believe a soulmate is simply “found”. So enjoy your true love calculator soulmate score — and then do the growing together.
