What typically happens at 10 weeks
Cell-free DNA screening (NIPT) can be offered from about 10 weeks, depending on where you receive care.
In the first trimester, the body is adjusting quickly to rising pregnancy hormones. Tiredness, nausea and breast tenderness are common, although some people notice very few symptoms. At 10 weeks you have about 4 weeks to go until the second trimester begins at 14 weeks.
Every pregnancy is different, and the timing of tests and appointments depends on your healthcare provider and country. If something worries you — for example bleeding, severe pain, fluid leaking or, later in pregnancy, a change in your baby’s movements — contact your midwife, doctor or maternity unit straight away.
10 weeks pregnant in days and months
10 weeks is 70 days of pregnancy, counted from the first day of the last period, which is 25% of the way through a 40-week pregnancy. In months, 10 weeks is roughly 2.3 calendar months — usually described as month 3 of pregnancy. Because the baby’s age is counted from conception, it is about two weeks younger than the pregnancy: roughly 8 weeks of fetal age.
